May 20, 2019: Seventy-four percent (74%) of voters nationwide visit medical websites to learn about possible causes when they have unfamiliar medical symptoms.[1]
A ScottRasmussen.com national survey found that 78% consider such online medical information to be at least somewhat reliable. However, there is a bit of consumer caution about this research—just 13% consider the online results to be very reliable.
And while people are quite comfortable doing preliminary research online, 77% would rather see their doctor in person.
Only 15% have actually had a telemedicine doctor’s appointment. Another 33% say they are likely to try one in the future. Most, however, are willing to wait for an in-person appointment.
