May 3, 2023: Three quarters (75%) of voters believe that drug cartels should be designated as terrorist groups. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that just 13% say they should not be, and 12% are not sure.

The survey also found that 91% believe it is important to close loopholes in the asylum system that some cartels are able to use to move drugs into the United States. This includes 73% who say it is very important.

Methodology

The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on April 18-19, 2023. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.

The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points.
