May 6, 2025: Two hundred and forty-seven (247) years ago on May 6, 1778, George Washington and the Continental Army celebrated the news that they had secured an alliance with the French. While the news had come to Washington the day prior, he celebrated the whole next day and even decided to pardon two soldiers who were set to be executed for the act of desertion. While the news was wonderful to hear, Washington and his men knew that if freedom, equality, and self-governance were to be achieved, they would still need to fight and win the war.[1]
