May 7, 2025: Fifty-seven percent (57%) of voters say they are paying more on basic household expenses than they were a year ago. A Napolitan News Service national survey conducted by RMG Research found 23% say they are paying less, and 18% say they are paying about the same amount.
The survey also found 16% think Joe Biden is primarily responsible for the higher prices. Twenty-three percent (23%) said Donald Trump is, 12% said the higher prices are due to economic factors beyond the control of a president, and 43% were not asked as they did not think prices are higher.
Methodology
The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on April 28-29, 2025. Fieldwork for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population. The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points.
