November 11, 2024: One hundred and five (105) years ago, on November 11, 1919, the first Veterans day was celebrated in America. At the time, it was known as Armistice Day and was a day dedicated to remembering the heroism of soldiers who fought in World War One. Veterans Day would become the name for the holiday in 1954 when President Dwight Eisenhower made the official change. Today, Veterans Day’s scope has expanded to honor soldiers who fought to protect our freedoms in all wars.[1]
