November 21, 2022: Seventy-five percent (75%) of those who voted in the midterms say that inflation was very important to how they voted, making it the most important among midterm voters. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that crime and gun violence (60%) and health care (60%) came next, followed by other economic issues (56%), abortion (52%), education (51%), and immigration (51%).
The survey also found that, when asked which was the single most important issue, inflation again topped the list, with 47% saying it was most important. Abortion (12%) and crime and gun violence (10%) came a distant second and third.
Methodology
The survey of 1,200 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on November 9-10, 2022. Fieldwork for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.
The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 2.8 percentage points.
