November 26, 2024: Over 80% of incumbents in close primaries won in the general election. One hundred and five incumbents running in congressional, state, and local primaries won with a margin-of-victory of five points or less. Of these 105 incumbents, 75 were Republicans, 21 were Democrats, and nine were nonpartisan.
