November 7, 2024: Fourteen percent (14%) of voters say that parents have either far too much control (5%) or somewhat too much control (9%) over their children’s education. A Napolitan News Service national survey conducted by RMG Research found that 59% of voters say parents have either somewhat too little control (27%) or far too little control (32%). Additionally, 20% say parents have about the right balance of control.

The survey also found that 73% of voters say it is more important for high schools to prepare students for jobs and careers than to prepare them for college. Sixteen percent (16%) disagree, and say it is more important to prepare students for college.

Methodology

The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on October 14-15, 2024. Fieldwork for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population. The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points.

Scott Rasmussen is the president of RMG Research, Inc.
