October 1, 2020: In 362 congressional and state legislative elections this year, the choice offered to voters will be the same as it was in 2018. That total includes 23 elections for the U.S. House and 339 state legislative elections.[1]

Ten of the 23 U.S. House rematches are in California. Three are in Washington and two are in Ohio. No other state features more than a single rematch.[1]

At the state legislative level, there are 26 rematches in New Hampshire, 25 in Connecticut, 21 in Minnesota, and 20 in Maine.[1]

Additionally, there is one rematch for a statewide office and at least 3 in local elections.[1]

Republicans won 205 of the 2018 elections that are now rematches, while Democrats won 159 and third party or nonpartisan candidates won two.[1]
