October 13, 2022: Fifty-seven percent (57%) of homeowners say their home has increased in value over the last year. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that 24% say it has not, and 19% are not sure. This is a shift from four months ago, when 68% said the value of their homes had increased, and just 16% said they had not.

The survey also found that 60% of homeowners think it would cost more than their home is worth to buy a different, comparable home in their area. Twenty-seven percent (27%) said it would cost about the same as their home is worth, and 5% said it would cost less.

Methodology

The survey of 1,200 Registered Voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on September 27-28, 2022. Fieldwork for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.

The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 2.8 percentage points.
