October 18, 2022: Given a list of ten top issues, 41% of voters say that inflation is the single most important one. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that nothing else comes close. Threats to democracy (10%) and Crime and gun violence (10%) come a distant second and third. Nothing else reaches double digits.

The survey also found that 73% say inflation is very important in terms of how they will vote in November’s midterm elections. Crime and gun violence (62%) and other economic issues (58%) follow.

Methodology

The survey of 1,200 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on October 4-6, 2022. Fieldwork for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.

The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 2.8 percentage points.
