October 18, 2023: Eighty percent (80%) of voters believe that it is important for children to be raised in a household with both their mother and their father present. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that 59% of voters believe that children who are raised without fathers present are at a significant disadvantage compared to other children.

The survey also found that 50% of voters believe that children raised without their father are more likely to live in poverty.

Methodology

The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on October 4-5, 2023. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the -sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.

The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points.
