October 24, 2023: Sixty percent (60%) of voters believe it is either very likely (15%) or somewhat likely (45%) that the fighting in Ukraine and the Middle East will grow into a wider world war. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that 23% of voters found the prospect of a wider world war to be either not very likely (18%) or not at all likely (5%).

The survey also found that only 37% or voters think it is likely that Russia will be defeated by Ukraine and its allies, while 41% of voters believe it is unlikely.

Methodology

The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on October 11-12, 2023. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the -sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.

The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points.
