October 25, 2021: Seventy-seven percent (77%) of voters believe it is possible to love someone without approving of their lifestyle. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that 14% disagree and 9% are not sure.[1]
That view is shared across all measured demographic groups.[1]
Additionally, 60% believe it is possible to support the policies advocated by Donald Trump (R) without supporting Trump himself. On that question, 29% disagree and 11% are not sure.[1]
Eighty-one percent (81%) of Republicans believe it is possible to separately support Trump’s policies without supporting Trump himself. So do independent voters, by a 57% to 26% margin. However, a modest plurality of Democrats (48%) say it is not possible.[1]
Among those who prefer Trump-like policies, 84% believe it is possible to separate the policies from the person, while 13% disagree.[1]
