October 28 2024: One hundred and thirty eight (138) years ago, on October 28, 1886, President Grover Cleveland dedicated the Statue of Liberty to New York City. The statue had taken ten years to build, with construction starting in France in 1875, and was shipped to the United States in 1885. The statue was commissioned to showcase the friendship between France and the United States and has endured as a symbol of freedom and opportunity.[1]
