October 9, 2024: Thirty-seven percent (37%) of voters say that the way government authorities have handled the situation with Hurricane Helene has been either excellent (10%) or good (27%). A Napolitan News Service national survey conducted by RMG Research found that 52% rate their handling as fair (28%) or poor (24%).

The survey also found that just 12% of voters trust the federal government more when it comes to handling major disasters like hurricanes. Thirty-five percent (35%) trust state and local governments more, while 41% say they trust both equally.

Methodology

The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on October 2-3, 2024. Fieldwork for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population. The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points.
