September 19, 2025: Nearly 11% of incumbents in general elections in New Jersey and Virginia do not have challengers this year. This is the second-lowest percentage since 2011. This year, there are 168 incumbents running for re-election, and 18 do not have challengers. All 18 incumbents without challengers are Democrats.
