September 22, 2021: Twenty-eight percent (28%) of voters now believe the worst of the pandemic is behind us. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that 45% believe the worst is yet to come.[1]
Those numbers are little changed from a month ago and match the most pessimistic assessment since the vaccines rolled out in January.[2][3]

Those totals include 29% who are very close to resuming normal life and 8% who are not at all close.[1]
Seventy percent (70%) of white voters are close to resuming their normal lives. So are 68% of Hispanic voters and 53% of Black voters.[1]
Among those who strongly approve of President Joe Biden’s (D) vaccine mandate orders, 56% are close to resuming a normal life. Among those who strongly oppose Biden's plan, 79% are close to a normal life.[1]
Sixty-eight percent (68%) say that if they tested positive for COVID-19 they believe it is likely they would recover quickly with only minor symptoms. Seventeen percent (17%) consider it unlikely while 15% are not sure.[1]
