December 24, 2018: The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) estimates that 46 million Americans will travel by plane this holiday season. That’s up 5% from a year ago.[1]

If you’re looking to avoid the crunch, the lightest travel days are today (Christmas Eve), tomorrow (Christmas Day), and January 5.

The busiest days of the season are last Thursday, last Friday, and the day after Christmas.

Each weekday, Scott Rasmussen’s Number of the Day explores interesting and newsworthy topics at the intersection of culture, politics, and technology.
