January 7, 2019: As the new Congress gets to work, expectations from the American people are pretty low. Just 32% of voters nationwide believe it is even somewhat likely that Congress will successfully address the major issues facing the nation before the 2020 election.[1]
A ScottRasmussen.com national survey found that just 12% think such a positive result is very likely.
Younger voters are far more optimistic than their elders. Among those under 35, 44% believe it’s somewhat likely that Congress will address the issues. Among senior citizens, just 23% hold such hopes.
The survey also found that 33% of voters believe Congress is more conservative than the nation at large while 36% believe it is more liberal.[2]
