June 28, 2022: Fifty-four percent (54%) of voters say that they prefer to live in a community where people are allowed to own guns. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that 32% would prefer to live in a community where guns are outlawed, and 14% are not sure.
The survey also found that, before being told, 68% of voters recognize that the Second Amendment deals with the right to bear arms. Thirteen percent (13%) think it has to do with free speech, 8% think it has to do with freedom of either religion or the press, 1% think trial by jury, and 10% are not sure.
Methodology
The survey of 1,200 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on June 15-16, 2022. Fieldwork for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.
The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 2.8 percentage points.
