March 19, 2021: Forty-nine (49) U.S. states plus Washington, D.C. now allow COVID-19 vaccinations for anyone 65 or older. The sole exception is New Mexico, which allows vaccinations only for those who are at least 75.

At the other extreme, two states—Mississippi and Alaska—now allow COVID vaccinations statewide for anyone who is 16 or older.

As of March 17, 11 states had at least one county making anyone 50+ or 55+ eligible for the vaccine. Thirty-three (33) states had set the eligibility at 60+ or 65+.

On a side note, tomorrow marks the 4th anniversary of the first edition of Scott Rasmussen’s Number of the Day published by Ballotpedia. That initial number focused on the 206 Pivot Counties that voted twice for President Obama and then voted for President Trump in 2016.

Each weekday, Scott Rasmussen’s Number of the Day explores interesting and newsworthy topics at the intersection of culture, politics, and technology.
