March 6, 2018: CNBC compiled a list of 10 U.S. cities offering a combination of high-paying jobs and a low cost of living.[1] The cities offering such a sweet combination are generally found in the south or southwest. North Carolina is the only state with two cities on the list: Durham (#5) and Charlotte (#10).

Topping the list and offering the best combination of high pay and low cost is Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. That city’s average annual income is $72,385 while the cost of annual necessities is $18,701.
