October 28, 2020: Seventy-three percent (73%) of voters nationwide are confident that the votes will be properly counted this year and that the proper winner of the presidential election will be declared. A PoliticalIQ poll found that 24% of likely voters lack such confidence.[1]
Those totals include 33% who are very confident and 6% who are not at all confident.[1]
Democrats have a modestly higher level of confidence than Republicans.[1]
The survey also found that 61% are at least somewhat worried that, in a close election, President Trump would fail to accept the results and concede. Thirty-six percent (36%) said the same of former Vice President Joe Biden.[1]
Looking back, 31% of voters believe that Hillary Clinton has accepted the results of the 2016 election as legitimate.[1]
