October 8, 2024: One hundred and fifty-three years ago the Great Chicago Fire started. The fire lasted until October 10th and wreaked havoc across most of the city. In all, roughly 300 people were killed, and over 17,000 buildings were destroyed. The damage was estimated at $200 million, and about 100,000 people lost their homes.[1]
