September 24, 2024: Two hundred and thirty-five years ago, George Washington signed into law the Judiciary Act of 1789. This act established a court system on the federal level that would be separate from the state courts. Also included in this act was the power of Congress to regulate jurisdiction in all federal courts. The Judiciary Act of 1789 is one of the first acts from the First Congress of the United States.[1]
