September 8, 2023: Eighty-one percent (81%) of voters believe that legal immigration is good for the United States. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that 76% believe that illegal immigration is bad for the country. This includes two-thirds (66%) who say that legal immigration is good and illegal immigration is bad for the United States, 15% who say that both legal and illegal immigration are good for America, and 10% who say that both are bad for the country.
Methodology
The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on August 29-30, 2023. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the -sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.
The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points.
