Encyclopedia of American Politics Brings on Expert for New Daily Feature
Middleton, Wis. - March 20, 2017: Ballotpedia.org announced today that Scott Rasmussen has joined the Ballotpedia organization as an Editor-at-large. Rasmussen will be publishing a daily feature on the site highlighting newsworthy and interesting topics at the intersection of politics, culture, and technology. Each article will focus on one significant number, and why Ballotpedia readers need to know these statistics.
Rasmussen’s first article, featuring the 206 Pivot Counties, was released today. A total of 206 counties across the nation voted for Barack Obama in both 2008 and 2012, but voted for Donald Trump in 2016. These Pivot Counties had an outsized impact on the election results. Despite casting only 5 percent of the national vote total in 2016, they accounted for 51 percent of the popular vote shift toward Republicans.
“We are excited to share Scott Rasmussen’s work with our readers,” said Leslie Graves, publisher of Ballotpedia.org. “Scott’s political commentary is respected by individuals across the political spectrum. We hope readers will make it a part of their daily routine to read up on the Number of the Day and learn something new about the political and cultural landscape of our country.”
A serial entrepreneur, Rasmussen is the founder of Rasmussen Reports, the co-founder of ESPN, a New York Times bestselling author, a public speaker, and a syndicated columnist. Scott did his first radio commercial at the age of seven and made his national television debut at 20. A career highlight was serving as emcee for hockey legend Gordie Howe’s 50th birthday celebration. Howe had been Scott’s childhood idol.
