An effort in Tower City, North Dakota, to recall Mayor Scott Salberg was initiated in April 2019. Petitioners gathered enough signatures to put the recall on the ballot. The recall was held on July 9, 2019, and Scott Salberg retained his position.[1]

The recall election was held on July 9, 2019. Scott Salberg defeated recall organizer Randy Crist.[2]

Recall supporters
Recall petitions listed the following reasons for recalling Salberg:[1]
- poor performance of duties;
- failure to enforce city ordinances;
- allowing harassment of other city officials at meetings;
- and removal of city records from the file and failure to conduct all city business in an open forum.
Recall opponents
Salberg responded to the recall effort. News Dakota reported that Salberg said there are two sides to every story and he is willing to visit with any Tower City citizen that has a question or concern about the city.[3]

Recall organizers were required to submit valid signatures equal to 25% of the number of persons that voted in the last preceding election for the office of governor in the electoral district of the officer sought to be recalled. Tower City had 287 residents at the time of the recall, and about 30 signatures were needed to put the recall on the ballot.
