Screven Watson is a Democratic political consultant in Florida. He has worked with several candidates over the years and is a former executive director of the Democratic Party of Florida.
Early career
Screven Watson graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1985 before earning a law degree from Nova Southeastern University. He served as chief cabinet aide for former Florida Agriculture Commissioner Bob Crawford. Later, he served as executive director of the Democratic Party of Florida from 1999 to 2001.[1][2][3]
Watson worked as a senior advisor to former Florida State Senator Rod Smith (D) when Smith ran for the Democratic Party nomination to run for Governor of Florida in 2006. In 2009, he worked as a general consultant for former Florida State Senator Dave Aronberg (D) when Aronberg ran in the Democratic Party primary for the Attorney General of Florida nomination. He has also worked with former Mayor of Tallahassee, Fla., Scott Maddox.[4][5][6][7]
Later career
In 2013, Campaigns & Elections named Screven Watson a top Democratic Party influencer in Florida. He left VancoreJones Communications, a public relations and political consulting firm based in Tallahassee, Fla., in 2015 in order to "add a legal component" to his political consulting work. Later in 2015, Watson joined Consumers for Smart Solar, a coalition that aims to amend the Florida Constitution to codify "commonsense consumer protection regulations" within the solar power industry in Florida.[8][9][10][2][11][12]
