Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Braddy's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Minimum Wage: Income inequality is slowing the economy, limiting the job market, and shaping the increasingly rigged political system of the United States today. Sean recognizes that the struggle against poverty must be America’s top priority if the country is to progress. One of the best ways to ensure that hard-working Americans get the fair compensation they deserve is by linking their salaries to those of our leaders and representatives in government.
  • Universal Healthcare: Sean supports healthcare for all because no one should have to choose between treating injury or illness, buying medications, and feeding their family. Paid family leave is something Sean will also fight for. In 2014, his son was in an accident that resulted in almost 3 months of unpaid leave. No one should have to choose between their livelihood and caring for loved ones.
  • Unions: Unions can be the only effective voice that workers have, which is why Sean believes we should go the extra mile to protect both public and private unions. Unions speak for the everyday man or woman trying to make his or her way in an economy run by big corporations that are first and foremost concerned with profit margins.
  • Climate Change & Clean Energy: Science has proven time and time again that climate change is real. It is our responsibility to ensure there is a planet left to support future generations. We know that the increased burning of fossil fuels contributes to climate change. Environmental protections and transitions to clean energy are critical now, not in one or two or six decades.
  • Education: It is the government's responsibility to educate its citizens. They should not sell the development of our children to private industry (i.e. charter schools and vouchers). We must catch up with the rest of the developed world. Until we do, the unemployment rate and poverty line will rise and we will miss out on the talent and energy of potential innovators who are buried by economic hardship.
