Campaign themes

2014

Englund's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]

Rural Issues

  • Excerpt: "The sacrifices many make to enjoy the rural lifestyle are difficult access to healthcare, quality education, and an infrastructure in need of repair when budget dollars go to urban centers. I will make a stand for rural Arizonans on these issues, seeking better access to healthcare, the best education possible for our students, and much needed updates to our roads and utility grids."

Natural Resources

  • Excerpt: "I will work to ensure that LD1’s valuable natural resources are thoughtfully managed, replaced and repaired as feasible to ensure availability for generations to come."

Water Rights

  • Excerpt: "Careful oversight of water resources is vital to the health of our rural communities."

Economic Development

  • Excerpt: "Arizona has started its comeback from the recession, but there is still plenty of ground to make up. We need to create a business-friendly environment in LD1 to give companies looking to relocate to Arizona additional options."

Immigration

  • Excerpt: "Securing our Southern border is imperative to stopping the flow of illegal immigrants coming into our State. While I don’t believe that a pathway to citizenship or providing direct benefits is a path we should pursue, I believe that we can, after our border is secure, work to provide an avenue where they can begin to work in a legal manner with proper documentation under certain conditions. Knowing who these people are and where they are is vital to our National Security. Bringing them out of the shadows and allowing them to contribute to our economic growth and tax base is a more realistic solution to the problem."
