Sean Mahar was the acting New York Commissioner of Environmental Conservation. He assumed office on April 15, 2024. He left office on June 2, 2025.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D) appointed Mahar acting New York Commissioner of Environmental Conservation on April 15, 2024 to replace Basil Seggos. [1]
Biography
Mahar earned a Bachelors degree from Siena University.
Prior to being appointed acting New York Commissioner of Environmental Conservation, Mahar served as Executive Deputy Commissioner of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation from 2022 to 2024. He previously served as Chief of Staff and Assistant Commissioner of Public Affairs for the Department of Environmental Conservation. [2]
