Campaign themes
2014
Malone's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[2]
Economy
- Excerpt: "This region needs to create better paying jobs and attract new businesses. State government should continue to invest in innovation and provide support to science and technology incubators, but we also need to equip workers with the tools to succeed in an increasingly global, interconnected, and automated economy."
Education
- Excerpt: "I will work to diminish the barriers, such as high costs, that keep more young people from aspiring to and attaining higher education. At the same time, I will pursue legislation to encourage alternative career paths that begin with apprenticeships and vocational and technical training."
Health Care
- Excerpt: "I would work to reduce the cost of health care for consumers and ensure that all Ohioans have access to health insurance, whether through their employers, Medicaid, or the individual marketplace. I support legislation that makes Ohio's Medicaid expansion permanent, not subject to the discretion of the Controlling Board and the executive branch."
Environment
- Excerpt: "The Ohio legislature should act in concert with federal officials and neighboring states to prevent siphoning of lake water for private gain and to arrest pollution, falling water levels, and the spread of harmful invasive species. In addition, the state should provide targeted support to companies striving to make clean energy a viable alternative to carbon-based sources."
Urban Development
- Excerpt: "To attract and retain business investment, our district should aspire to create safer, cleaner, more pedestrian and family friendly urban neighborhoods. I would ensure that state government remains an active partner in such revitalization efforts."
