Campaign themes

McConnaha issued the following statement regarding his bid for office:

I am running for office to represent the interests of Montana's middle and working classes. I value economic and environmental protections. I eschew corporate and ""dark"" funds. I believe the 2016 presidential election is an embarrassment and the result of a disengaged populace. I also believe that there are too many strong corporate interests in our state. These groups have no qualms treating Montanans as disposable labor and Montana as a place that can be bought, mined, and polluted.

I grew up in the Bitterroot Valley, went to school in Missoula, taught in the Fort Peck reservation, and spent the last five summers working in Glacier Park. I have spent nearly a decade working at or near minimum wage, so I understand how difficult that life can be. I've been privileged enough to attend college using grants and loans. I am currently working as an educator in Stanford, Montana. [8]
