Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?

The Statesman by Plato; The Carbon Crunch by Dieter Helm; and the Tao Te Ching by Laozi.

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

Honest, trustworthy, a fighter, passionate, empathetic.

What was the last song that got stuck in your head?

Bruane Brenn by Kvelertak

Campaign website

Smith's campaign website stated the following:

Courage and willpower

I envision a Charlotte where we attack our problems head on, rather than sitting idly by. The growth of the Queen City has been tremendous over the years, but it has brought forth a lot of pain. We have a choice to make: stay on the current course or take control of our city's destiny. I believe we should choose the latter, because I see the infinite possibilities.

The Issues

  • Neighborhoods should have a stronger voice in the development process
  • Infrastructure must keep pace with our rapid growth
  • Revitalization will reduce displacement
  • Investing in small businesses creates economic opportunity
  • Government exists solely to represent the people[2]
