Smith was elected to the 26th Judicial District. He defeated incumbent Tyyawdi B. Hands in the general election, winning 54.8% of the vote.[2]

Education

Smith received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in 2000 and his J.D. from the Villanova Law School in 2003.[3][4]

Career

Before his election to the court in 2010, Smith served as an assistant district attorney for Mecklenburg County.[3]
