Sebastian Patti was a judge of the Cook Circuit Court of Illinois. He served on this court from 1995 to 2009, after which, he was assigned to the First District Appellate Court. He returned to the circuit court in 2011.[1][2][3] He retired from the bench in 2018.[4]

Patti was retained to the Cook Judicial Circuit Court with 75.1 percent of the vote on November 4, 2014. [5] 

Evaluations

The Illinois State Bar Association rated Sebastian Patti as Recommended for retention in 2014.[6]

Education

Patti received his B.A. from Duke University in 1975 and his J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1978.[1]

Career

Patti began his legal career as a law clerk to Kansas District Judge Herbert Walton in 1977. He then worked as a staff attorney for the Environmental Law Institute in Washington, D.C. in 1979 before becoming associate regional counsel for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region V, later that year. He worked in this position until 1995. He was appointed judge of the Cook County Circuit Court, First Municipal Division in March of 1995 and was elected in November of 1996. He served in the Child Protection Division from 1995 to 1998, the Housing Section from 1998 to 1999 and supervising judge of the Housing Section from 1999 until his assignment to the appellate court in 2009. He was appointed presiding judge of the circuit court's Domestic Violence Division in 2011.[1]
