Recall reports

An election to recall four members of the select board—Peggy Stanley, Bruce Jones, James Michaud, and Christine Whitmer—was held on November 8, 2022, in Medway, Maine.[1] Voters approved the recall against Stanley by a margin of 61.7% to 38.3%, but rejected the recalls against Jones, Michaud, and Whitmer.[2]

Stanley, a Republican, was elected to represent District 143 in the Maine House of Representatives in the general election on November 3, 2020. However, the recall campaign sought to remove Stanley from the Medway Select Board.[1]

Resident Jody Nelson submitted the recall petition against Stanley. Recall supporters alleged that Stanley had been disruptive during select board meetings. Nelson said, "She has targeted some employees and screamed and yelled at them. ... She's not acting in a manner that's fit for someone holding her position."[1]
