Sen. Marco Rubio announces bid for presidency
April 13, 2015
By Sarah Rosier
U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) launched his presidential bid today. Rubio announced his presidential run on a conference call with donors. He referred to himself as "uniquely qualified" for the nomination. The call came hours before a scheduled campaign rally tonight in Miami.[1]
He also positioned himself as an alternative to Hillary Clinton (D). Rubio referred to Clinton as "a leader from yesterday."[2]
Rubio was first elected to the Senate in 2010. He was previously a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 2000 to 2008.[3]
