Senate Judiciary Committee approves seven nominees
September 23, 2010
Washington, D.C.: Today the Senate Judiciary Committee voted in favor of seven of President Obama's judicial nominees to the federal courts. Four of those nominees, Goodwin Liu, Edward Chen, Louis Butler and John McConnell, have passed through the committee (at least) once before. (To read more, see: Obama nominates five for the federal courts - again.)[1]
In addition to those four, the Committee voted to send the nominations of Kathleen O'Malley, Beryl A. Howell, and Robert Leon Wilkins to the full U.S. Senate. O'Malley was originally nominated March 10, 2010, Howell on July 14, 2010 and Wilkins on May 20, 2010. These three nominees received the unanimous support of the Judiciary Committee.[2][1]
The next step for all of these candidates is a vote in the Senate.
