A vote about whether to recall Allison Ott and Marie Meinke from their positions with Seneca Township, Michigan took place on February 23, 2010. Voters decided to keep both township officers.[1]

The recall petitions were filed by local resident Dayna Cordts on September 24, 2009 in Lenawee County.

Allison Ott/Township Clerk recall results:

  • Yes: 57 (31.84%)
  • No: 122 (68.16%) Defeatedd

Marie Meinke/Township Treasurer recall results:

  • Yes: 59 (33.15%)
  • No: 119 (66.85%) Defeatedd

Background

Recall leader Cordts alleged that Ott and Meinke were “rude and disrespectful” to residents at a September 14, 2009 meeting. The recall petition also claimed that the two officials made and supported a motion that alleged that Cordts violated a permit stipulation that she claims she did not apply for.[1]

Path to the ballot

Recall supporters had to collect a minimum of 98 signatures for each petition by November 20, 2009.[1]
