My name is Sergio Mojica. I’m a long-time Chicago resident, a public school leader, and I’m running for State Representative in Illinois’ 13th District.

As an advocate for equity and education, I want to make sure every person in our community feels empowered. I am a true believer that collaboration coupled with accountability produces positive, effective, lasting results.

I’m running for office because I want to make our streets safer; reduce homelessness in our city and to make sure our education system meets the needs of all of our children. I’m also running because representation matters. A legacy built on humanity and recognition that enacts legislation to elevate all of us, not just some. What's more, we need to do it in a manner that brings our community together.

Every voice matters. We all deserve to be seen. As a proud queer, progressive, afro-Latino educator and democrat who was raised in a conservative household, I am driven by the core belief that there is more that unites us than divides if we’re willing to listen, reach out, and hold each other up.
  • Our residents deserve to feel safe and be safe.
  • Homelessness is solvable.
  • Every young person deserves a school where the standard is a high-quality, culturally responsive, rigorous education.
In addition to Public Safety, Reducing Homelessness, and Education Reform, Women's Rights protections, LGBTQIA+ Freedoms, Workers rights and Fair Wages, Mental Health Issues, Affordable Housing, and Addressing Environmental Concerns.
