Campaign themes

2016

Graham's campaign website listed the following themes for 2016:

Respect for Chandler’s Past while Supporting Future Innovation & Growth
Chandler is a city with a trailblazing history in the Valley of the Sun. As the Vice-Chairman of the Chandler Museum advisory board. I understand the importance of respecting our history. ChandlerPedia is an online resource to learn about Chandler history! The dedicated Chandler Museum staff collects your photos, items, and stories of significance for ChandlerPedia. What makes Chandler great is you. From the past, to today, and into the future. I have the foresight to lead Chandler into that future. As a city council member, I will guard and honor the rich history of our city while leading our city into the future by unleashing creative business, encouraging innovative people, and getting government out of the way of entrepreneurs.

Servant Leadership
Those who lead should be exceptional in serving. Before and while in office, I have devoted my life to serving all people. From the janitor to the CEO. I have served Chandler citizens in numerous ways:

  • Vice Chairman of the Chandler Museum Advisory Board (Former Chairman)
  • Member of Chandler Kiwanis Club Young Professionals.
  • Member of the Chandler Men of Action.
  • Member of the Chandler Chamber of Commerce.
  • Associated with the Chandler Coalitions on Youth Substance Abuse-helped with Chandler's social host ordinance.
  • Bringing Linking Sports and Communities AZ Youth Sports Day to ICAN in Chandler.

Family Values
The family and individual growth, is the bedrock of society. Family values build safe and strong communities. This is why one of my role in government will be to protect the right of parents to pass on cultural diversity traditions, religious values, and have personal choice.

Smaller Government
Smaller government equals more freedom for Chandler residents. Excessive government raises taxes, burdens businesses and reduces the freedoms of society. Government does not have the right to decide everything. Government has three primary duties—keeping the peace and health(Fire/Police) maintaining the parks, roads and natural resources and implementing capital projects and policies that move us into the future. When government goes beyond these duties, it creates problems rather than solutions.

Responsible Spending
Government must not spend more than is required for its primary duties. Irresponsible spending leads to increased taxes and burdening businesses with heavy fees. Responsible spending allows government to reduce taxes, unleash businesses and promote prosperity.

Business Friendly
Government is most friendly to business when it allows hard working citizens to keep the rewards of their labor, reduces barriers, fights crime, and protects property.

Less Restrictions
America is great because it is freedoms. That is why I believe in less government restrictions. As your city council member, I will protect property rights, fight to reduce taxes where possible, decrease business impact fees and increase public access to parks and public places.

Less Taxes
Although government cannot operate without taxes, excessive taxes discourage spending, business investment and buying. Balanced taxation promotes job growth, increases prosperity, encourages spending, promotes population growth and actually improves city revenue due to increased spending. [1]
