Seven nominees vie to replace District Judge Erickson

Providence, Rhode Island: Seven lawyers have been chosen by the Judicial Nominating Commission as possible replacements for the retired Judge Stephen P. Erickson on the Rhode Island District Court. Erickson left the court in June of 2010. The seven candidates for his position will be interviewed by the Commission on October 14th, after which, a public hearing will be held. The candidates are:
- William P. Rampone - Providence Housing Court judge, attorney in civil and criminal law, and former member of the Judicial Nominating Commission
- David P. Kerins - Chief Hearing Officer of the State Department of Environmental Management, former State Senator and former member of the Judicial Nominating Commission.
- Bethany M. Macktaz - Assistant Attorney General: Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division
- Robert H. Humphrey - Criminal defense lawyer with focus on drunken driving, domestic violence, etc.
- Merlyn O'Keefe - general practice lawyer and longtime solicitor for the Town of New Shoreham
- Stephen M. Miller - private practice lawyer with focus on real estate law and estate planning
- Christine S. Jabour - District Court Magistrate and former state prosecutor[1]
