Shadi Ayyas
Shadi Ayyas (Democratic Party) ran for election to the U.S. House to represent Virginia's 10th Congressional District. He did not appear on the ballot for the Democratic primary on June 21, 2022.
Ayyas was a 2020 Democratic candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 5th Congressional District of Virginia. Ayyas withdrew prior to the Democratic primary.[1]
Ayyas was a 2018 Democratic candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 10th Congressional District of Virginia.[2] Ayyas withdrew prior to the filing deadline.[3]
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee included Virginia's 10th in its list of battleground districts for 2018.[4] Although incumbent Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-Va.) won her re-election bid in 2016 by six points, this swing district backed Hillary Clinton (D) over Donald Trump (R) in the 2016 presidential election by 10 points.[5]
Biography
Ayyas practices medicine primarily in Winchester, Virginia, and previously served as a physician to diplomats, their families, and U.S. Marines abroad. He also worked as hydrogeologist.[6]
