Shaheen Emmanuel Lakhan
Shaheen Emmanuel Lakhan was a candidate for an at-large seat on the Redlands Unified School District school board in California. Lakhan was defeated in the at-large general election on November 8, 2016. The 2016 election was his first time running for office.[1]
Biography
Lakhan works as an associate professor of neurology and medical education at the California University of Science and Medicine School of Medicine. He is also the chair of the department of neurology and the assistant dean of curriculum. Lakhan is a member of the First 5 San Bernardino Advisory Committee and the vice chair of the Admissions Committee for the California University of Science and Medicine.[1]
Lakhan is also involved with the eLearning Committe of the American Academy of Neurology and the Institutional Review Board for the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. He is a member of the teaching faculty at Family Medicine Residency, UCR School of Medicine and the medical center for the Riverside University Health System, and he serves as the executive director of the Global Neuroscience Initiative Foundation. Lakhan holds an M.Ed., M.S., Ph.D., and M.D.[1]

Three of the five seats on the Redlands Unified School District Board of Education were up for at-large general election on November 8, 2016. Incumbents Ronald McPeck and Richard Haller filed for re-election and faced six opponents: Cristina Puraci, James O'Neill, Ensen Mason, Alex Vara, Shaheen Emmanuel Lakhan, and Mario Saucedo.[2] Vara, O'Neill, and Puraci won election to the board.[3]

Funding
Lakhan filed an exemption form detailing he would not spend or receive more than $2,000 for this campaign. Because of this, he did not have to file additional campaign finance reports.[4][5]
