Shamus Sayed (Republican Party) ran for election to the U.S. House to represent California's 50th Congressional District. He lost in the primary on June 5, 2018.

Sayed was born in Canada, but he moved to the San Diego area when he was two years old. He owns Interpreters Unlimited, a family business that provides interpretation services to limited English-speaking groups. His volunteer experience includes serving as president of the FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association and on the Captain’s Advisory Board of the San Diego Police Department. He has also served with the Monarch School, the National Missing Children’s Day, the National Child Identification Program, and Heart4Refugees. Sayed earned a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of California San Diego. He and his wife have two sons.[1]
