Driscoll's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

I’m running for this office for three simple reasons: 1. I’m concerned about the future my children and grandchildren are being burdened with. A future with limited opportunity, over-reaching government interference, and a tax and debt obligation that is already crushing hope and optimism within my generation, is not something they deserve to inherit. 2. I’m concerned about the fractured state of our society. I believe that we all are who we say we are, but we seem to be married to political parties and philosophies that are keeping us from being the best versions of ourselves. I’m a big fan of coming together and solving problems, but as I look at the seemingly endless number of growing social and fiscal issues we all face, the common denominator amongst them all is government intervention and overreach. It has taken us over 100 years to dig this hole, and I am not naïve enough to believe that will only take a few years to find our way out of it. I do, however, believe that when one finds themselves in a hole a they don’t want to be in, it is typically considered a best practice to stop digging. Please read my 1 for 1 Pledge below and what I consider to be a pragmatic approach to dealing with the issue of a growing and out of control cancer that is eating away at our ability to be civil to each other. 3. I want to be on the right side of history. The word “progressive” is most often associated with the Democratic Party, but they by no means have the market cornered on it. Republicans are equally happy to leverage the force of government to extort, coerce, and intimidate “We the People” into bending to their will. Not only is this type of governing the antithesis of what the founders of this country intended, it is immoral, unethical, and unacceptable. 1 for 1 Pledge: I pledge now to support no new legislation or new spending that does not include the repeal of old legislation or define what program will have an equal dollar amount taken from it. Or, put the other way, I'm not interested in the political fight. If the people of Washington state demand a new limitation on freedom, I'm happy to vote for it if we're returning a freedom of equal importance. As a Libertarian I would love to see as little government as possible. As a pragmatist, I know that if you're going to do a 180, it is probably best not to be going 180. I intend to be your voice in Olympia pumping the brakes on this reckless government careening out of control on the highway to destitution.[1] |
