Campaign themes
2016
Ranschaert's website highlighted the following campaign themes:
District 14:
- Excerpt: "I understand that as your Council representative my first priority is to you the citizens of district 14. I am a listener and advocate for your needs, not an agent for government bans and restrictions on your personal freedom. Our Neighborhoods and Our Community needs WILL come first, and your views WILL come before any political party or special interest group."[2]
Herion epidemic
- Excerpt: "I am working with a man whose daughter was murdered by a dealer, to establish a organization called Meagan's Awareness. The Foundation's sole goal is to help people who are struggling with addiction, break their addiction and get back on the right foot again. The foundation will provide counseling, addiction treatment, and job training. In future, it will provide medical treatment, and a living facility."[3]
Public safety
- Excerpt: "I will work closely with the police to ensure that these issues are met head on by requesting special drug units to be assigned to the areas most affected, and encourage the expansion of neighborhood block watches."[4]
Fiscal responsibility
- Excerpt: "I will focus, not on growing government but in reducing it by helping to find inefficiencies in the $903 million dollar budget. Government simply cannot be the answer for every need, personal responsibility must once again be apart of the equation."[5]
